I was up so late last night, until 1am! I was in bed by 10:30, but me, Sophia, and Sara got into a discussion about religion, politics, the middle east, Islam, God and just about everything else inbetween. It was a great conversation, and extremely enlightening. I did not know many things about the Islamic Religion that I know now.
I got up early anyways, because I don't want to loose my sleep schedule. I find out if I got into my art class when I get onto campus. Then I have to head to the "Shomu" which is the Japanese bursars office and pay for my art class fee. It's a bit expensive, 100.00 US, but the course says you specifically work on large pieces (not tiny little bowls) and throw vases and pots, which requires a lot of clay and glaze and other materials. Not to mention I don't have any of my personal sculpting materials with me (mental note: I should've broght them) so those are supplied in the fee too. Some of the other girls who are taking the beginner class were shocked at the fee, but I assured them that it was pretty normal for a decent art class. Espically when they're not expecting you to go out to local stores and find some materials yourself. One of them is really excited to take pottery, she calls me her pottery "Sempai." (For the non-Japanese speakers, a Sempai is an upperclassman who you respect and who teaches you things.) I told her I'd be in the studio a lot anyways likely, so if she needs a hand with the wheel to let me know.
I'm also registering my laptop today, so I can FINALLY upload some pictures!!!
Then later on I have a semi-formal opening ceremony and banquet, and I find out about the rest of the classes I got into.
I'll chat more with everyone later!
