Good Morning Japan

Woke up again at about 7:00am. I've decided staying on the schedule of in bed by 10:30 and up by about 7:00am isn't a bad thing. It also doesn't help that our room faces east with big sliders, and the curtians are paper thin, up with the sun!

I was the first up, but not for long, Dasha was up soon (a Russian girl I have discovered). Her and Dana are awesome, they went to a concert last night, a hard rock one but I want to go with them in the future. She lent me this cute skirt. I'm wearing a skirt and leggings today because yesterday my jeans chaffed odd on my legs and they're a bit tender. Leggings are the answer to my prayers.

Everyone agrees that we all should totally go to sushi tonight at the place Hee-Wan and I found last night. All the girls are awesome, even though we've been together for only a short time it's like a big family.

I ate an asian pear I got at the super market for breakfast. They were the cheapest fruit, obviously being from Asia. I've decided that produce will be my one slightly consistant splurge area, considering it's deliciuos and I live off it. I won't go overboard, but back home it's one of my key sources of nutrition. The girls have been talking about getting suppliments, to off-set the lack of vegtibles we're getting as a result of the cost. The pear was good, kind of like an American pear, but different, it had a tang to it. It was the size of a large apple, and about the same shape, here's a picture I found on the net:

Oddly though, everyone is craving pancakes, we want to find a diner type thing to eat at. The kitchen is locked down until after orientation so we can't cook them ourselves.

I noticed this morning, I actually got a litle sunburnt from all the walking around I did yesterday. Sunscreen on today to help off-set that.

I take my placement test in about 2 hours, I'm actually kind of nervous, though I know I'll be fine. I've also noticed I'm beginning to learn Kanji by association. For example I know the Kanji for "Minute" "Second" "High" and "Low" just by using the microwave and stovetop for food. I don't know how to say those words, but I recognize the Kanji now.

Full day of orientation today, time to head off and get to it!
